A New Roof Is Built in the Layers You'll Never See

Anyone can lay a finish material. What decides whether a roof lasts fifteen years or forty is the underlayment, the ventilation, and the flashing underneath it — the parts you'll never look at again once the job is done. Dove Roofing and Construction builds all of it right, because those hidden layers are where a roof is actually won or lost.

We install complete roofing systems from the deck up for new builds, additions, and structures getting their first roof across Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Premium materials, careful detailing, and a roof engineered specifically for the region's sun, wind, and rare-but-heavy rain.

From the first consultation through the final inspection, we keep you informed and build to a standard we'd be glad to put on our own homes.

New Roofs Built Right in the Layers You Can't See

The Desert Rewards Roofs That Are Built for It

A roof installed to a generic national spec will underperform out here. The conditions are simply harder, and the install has to account for them from the very first layer.

First, reflected heat drives attic temperatures far above what inland or coastal roofs deal with, so ventilation has to be sized for those real numbers rather than a textbook default. Then hard UV attacks any exposed material relentlessly, which is why cool-rated products earn their keep and cheap ones fail early. Meanwhile, the daily heat-and-cool cycle works ordinary flashing loose over time, so the details around penetrations and edges have to be built to move without leaking. Get any of that wrong and the roof underperforms no matter how good the finish material looks on day one.

We install accordingly — the right materials for the climate, ventilation matched to real desert attic temperatures, and flashing detailed for conditions that never stop working at the roof.

Choosing the Right Material for Your Build

Your material choice shapes both the look and the lifespan of the roof, and there's no single right answer — only the right answer for your building and budget. Here's what our clients weigh most often.

1. Asphalt shingle. Affordable and available in many styles and colors, it suits a wide range of homes and budgets, though it ages faster than premium materials under desert sun.

2. Tile. The signature desert finish — excellent in heat, long-lasting, and the standard many custom and HOA communities require. Higher up front, but decades of service in return.

3. Metal. The longest service life of anything we install, with standout heat reflection and fire resistance that pay off in this climate and this fire-prone region.

4. Foam and membrane. For low-slope and flat sections, seamless systems that shed water where pitched materials can't and reflect heat off the building.

5. Underlayment. Not the visible layer, but the waterproof barrier that does the real work when the finish material is compromised.

6. Ventilation and flashing. The choices that decide how long any of the above actually lasts — sized and detailed for desert conditions, not a generic spec.

What Our Clients Say About Us

Real Google reviews from homeowners.

I'm so happy with David & his crew at Dove Roofing. I just moved into a new place & started noticing the seller must have painted over leak discoloration. The discoloration was getting worse after a few days of rain so I was really panicking. I got estimates from several roofers. Dave's was among the most competitive, & he was able to start the work & finish the work that very same day. All the other roofers told me I'd have to wait several days or longer. Dove Roofing also gave me a quote on a full roof replacement for the next year or two, which was very competitive. He was punctual, communicated well, & attentive. His crew was professional as well. If you are looking for the best Redlands roofer, I highly recommend Dave Berumen & Dove Roofing. Professional & affordable Redlands roofing company--thanks Dove Roofing!

Staci Nichols

I had an amazing experience with David, the owner of Dove Roofing. My family has a home in Joshua Tree that needed emergency service during a historic wind/hail/snow storm. I was not in town and scrambled to find someone to show up promptly. I found Dove Roofing on a Google search and lucked out big time! Not only did David immediately answer my call when his phone rang but he was able to go out to my home within 30 minutes. He was patient with me on our call and understood the emergency nature of the situation since a portion of our roof blew off and was exposing some pieces of wood. David went to the location and braved the hail, extreme cold, and wind to go up on the roof and do some temporary repairs to prevent further damage from a second storm expected the next day. He was a lifesaver! David was in constant communication with me and was so easy to do business with. He was knowledgeable, honest, and very professional. I will definitely be using his company to do the necessary permanent repairs to my roof. If I could give him 10 gold stars, I would.

Gail Koretz

I am extremely pleased with the service provided by Dove Roofing. Gus, their estimator, came the same day I requested a quote and provided me with a price that seemed very reasonable for re-shingling my Park Model in Desert Hot Springs. We settled on a date that would work for them and me and just as promised the work was completed on time, no muss, no fuss. They cleaned up their mess and were out of here in less than 2 days. I would highly recommend Dove Roofing!

Robert Allison

I was impressed by how fast, clean, and thorough their work was. Every day, they came in on time. They cleaned after themselves when they were done for the day. I have nothing to say but good things about this company. Best value and excellent service. I would definitely recommend and use them for any roofing needs that can come up in the future. Thank you Adrian and crew for the new roof over our home :)

Bethsy Reynoso

I am selling my home and needed some minor roof repair work that a home inspector identified. I went on line and found Dove Roofing. I contacted the owner Dave and he responded promptly. Dave drove out to my home the next business day and gave a free estimate on the job details. He was thorough in explaining what work needed to be done to fix the roofing issues. Although this was a small job, Dave and Dove Roofing were available to fix the problem the same day. Very professional, down to earth, and demonstrated good work ethics. I would recommend this company.

Tony Albert

David and his crew came out and saved the day!We had severe roof damage which in turn made it a nightmare during this last storm that came through 29 Palms! We had his company install a state of the art foam roof ! It looks like snow in the desert ! But highly effective in terms of the sun reflecting, and making it cooler in the building. It will be fabulous this summer when it’s 110° Honest, Reliable,. Highly recommend .

New Roof Questions Homeowners Ask

How long does it take to install a new roof?

Most single-family homes here are finished in one to three days once materials are staged, depending on the size and complexity of the roof. Tile and multi-plane designs take longer than a simple shingle job. We confirm the expected timeline in writing before we start so there are no surprises.

Which material is best for a new home in the desert?

For long-term performance in this climate, tile and metal are the standouts — both handle the heat and last for decades, and metal adds strong fire resistance. Asphalt shingle is the budget-friendly choice but ages faster under the sun. The best fit depends on your budget, your home's style, and how long you plan to own it, and we'll walk you through the trade-offs.

Do you handle roofs for additions and new construction?

Yes. We install roofs on new construction, room additions, garages, and outbuildings, working from your plans or coordinating with your builder. We handle everything from the deck up, matching a new addition's roof to the existing home where needed.

How is ventilation different on a desert roof?

Desert attics run far hotter than the national averages most ventilation specs assume, so we size intake and exhaust for those real temperatures. Proper ventilation lowers attic heat, protects the underside of the roof, eases the load on your cooling system, and extends the life of the whole assembly — it's one of the most important and most overlooked parts of a desert install.

Can you work from my architect's plans?

Absolutely. We build to your architect's or builder's specifications and coordinate on materials, ventilation, and flashing details so the finished roof matches the design intent and meets local code.
