I had an amazing experience with David, the owner of Dove Roofing. My family has a home in Joshua Tree that needed emergency service during a historic wind/hail/snow storm. I was not in town and scrambled to find someone to show up promptly. I found Dove Roofing on a Google search and lucked out big time! How long does a foam roof last in the desert?
A foam roof isn't measured in a single lifespan the way a shingle roof is — its value is that it can be recoated on schedule rather than torn off and replaced. Maintained that way, with a fresh reflective coat applied at the right intervals, a foam roof can keep protecting a building for decades and outlast several conventional roofs.
Is foam or a membrane better for my flat roof?
It depends on the roof. Foam shines where you want a seamless, reflective, recoatable surface and good insulation value, which describes a lot of desert flat roofs. A torch-down or built-up membrane can be the better call on roofs with heavy foot traffic or particular drainage situations. We assess your specific roof and tell you which one actually fits rather than defaulting to one answer.
Does a reflective roof really lower my cooling bill?
Yes. A reflective surface bounces a large share of the sun's heat away instead of letting it soak into the building, which lowers attic and interior temperatures and eases the load on your air conditioning.
